Exhibition Press Release

Coastal Art Exhibition

Press Release

Because Australians so love the coastline, three artists, Cindy Tonkin, Anna Warren and Margaret Westcott explore the Coastal theme.

Come discover their artworks, inspired by the sea and all things Coastal at the Ewart Gallery, Workshop Arts Centre, 33 Laurel Street in Willoughby opening on Saturday February 9th 2008 from 4 -7pm. Enjoy a glass of wine on the Wine Society.

On February 16th 2008 at 1:30 the talented Benita Collings (of Playschool fame) will host a chat with the artists in the Ewart Gallery.

Coastal includes around 70 works, representational and abstract, in oils, acrylics, watercolour and collage. Subject matter extends from water to beach and dunes, to the life around the coast - the beach side cafes, the surfers and the tourists.

Cindy Tonkin has created a series of close up of docks, pools and boats in calm colours. Also a bright gold and blue beach series, causing you to shield your eyes from the glare.

Anna Warren works predominantly in oils. For this exhibition she has developed a series of interlinked miniatures which can be combined to create larger works. Like a large pieced jigsaw, each painting interacts with the others to create a viewer-made whole.

Margaret Westcott's acrylic and mixed media pieces experiment with textures and layers, weathered timbers, and people.

Gallery opening hours Monday to Friday 9:30 - 4:30, Saturday 10 - 3. The Exhibition continues until Saturday 23 February 2008.

Prices range from $60 - $500
